Last Saturday our wizards and dragons played their first match in the Berkshire Youth Development League (BYDL).
We couldn’t be more proud of all the players as everyone of them worked so hard for each other, they played so well as a team and listened to their coaches.
All of our players were smiling and thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the experience.
Some comments below from the coaching team.
Dragons
The coaches were both super proud of the Dragons. It didn't show that this was their first proper match and only their 2nd time playing on grass and on a bigger pitch. The team started on fire and could have easily taken the lead early on. What made us most proud however was that despite missing chances and falling behind 3 times they never once let their heads drop and stuck together throughout. It's this tenacity that allowed them to snatch the equaliser late on.
Wizards
Similar to the Dragons above, the Wizards made the coaches super proud and it did not show that this was the team's first ever league match and only the second time for them to play on grass and on a bigger pitch as a team in a 7v7 format. The Wizards settled straight away from the first kick-off, passing well and making great runs for each other to create space as well as showing great skill and dribbles on the ball. Once the first goal was scored, the team grew more and more in confidence and when not in possession they pressed the opposition well and if anyone lost the ball they worked hard to get the ball back. At the end of the match, the Wizards recorded a well deserved win.
Well done wizards and dragons!
