We started the game under a bit of pressure but that was always going to be the case playing against Top of the league Caversham Jaguars in Div 2.

I think our boys did very well defensively and we managed to keep the game pretty level.

We couldn’t create enough to be rewarded.

Max had a fantastic game and couldn’t fault his presence in the goal. Fantastic display.

Unlucky for us for them to get that penalty as it wasn’t a penalty kick at all. There was no contact both players were on their feet, so very unlucky for us.

I told the boys that they were lacking connection with each other. Go out there and enjoy the game and play more together.

Playing more together is exactly what they did as in the second half it was us with the ball. Odd changes from Caversham but no major threat.

There was some better football being played with us keeping the ball more and finding great passes to some great areas.

We had the better scoring chances and they started to feel the pressure from us.

We could have been 3-2 up but we missed 3-4 chances that our front 4 would normally put it away.

I give full credit to our team for the second-half performance with so many positive things we saw.

They scored from a corner and a pen, both avoidable.

Things we could have done better.

The first half took the boys by surprise at how good Caversham was so took us by surprise and we took too long to get going from the first gear.

We missed 4 great 1 V 1 chances in the second half and in difficult games, we need to be more clinical.

The midfield two both attacked together and left gaps at times. Communication needs to be better and one must cover the space.

Give the boys some credit as the second-half performance was enough to beat any team.

This was top of Division 4 V top of Division 2 and to be truly honest you couldn’t tell especially in the second half.

We have the game recorded and will be reviewed and areas that need to be worked on will be worked on.
